The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index ended Sunday, November 16 – the first trading day of the week – in the red. It closed 0.20 percent, or 5.15 points, lower to 2,540.57 in comparison to the previous trading day.
Market activity picked up as over 7.95 million shares worth Rs 3.89 billion changed hands across 47,176 transactions, compared to over 7.6 million shares worth Rs 3.49 billion traded in 50,621 transactions last Thursday.
All major sub-indices closed lower: the Sensitive Index fell 0.32 percent, the Float Index slipped 0.29 percent, and the Sensitive Float Index dropped 0.37 percent.
Out of the total traded securities, 75 advanced, 168 declined, and 14 remained unchanged.
Among sectoral indices, only three ended in positive territory. The Others Index gained 0.72 percent, followed by the Hotels and Tourism Index 0.18 percent and the Manufacturing and Processing Index 0.02 percent. The Finance Index posted the steepest loss at 0.87 percent.
Sagar Distillery Limited (SAGAR), Bungal Hydro Limited (BUNGAL), and Bandipur Cablecar and Tourism Limited (BANDIPUR) were the top gainers, each rising 9.99 percent.
In contrast, Bhugol Energy Development Company Limited (BEDC) recorded the sharpest decline, hitting the lower circuit limit.
In terms of turnover, 10.75 percent SBL Debenture 2089 (SBLD89) led with Rs 289.07 million, followed by Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited (NRIC) at Rs 213.52 million and Mountain Energy Nepal Limited (MEN) at Rs 208.45 million.
Overall market capitalization rose to Rs 4,265.68 billion from Rs 4,273.14 billion last Thursday.
