NEPSE Inches Up After Week-Long Decline

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index inched up 0.12 percent, or 3.21 points, on Tuesday, November 11, closing at 2,565.16. The modest rise came after a week-long losing streak that began on November 3, except for a brief uptick last Wednesday.

Turnover, however, continued to shrink, falling to Rs 3.62 billion from Rs 4.51 billion the previous day.

Among key indices, the Float Index edged up 0.13 percent, while the Sensitive Index and the Sensitive Float Index slipped 0.04 percent and 0.11 percent, respectively.

Of the traded securities, 144 advanced, 102 declined, and 10 remained unchanged.

Seven of the 13 sectoral indices ended higher. The Hydropower Index led the gainers, rising 0.77 percent, while the Others group posted the sharpest drop at 0.67 percent.

Among individual stocks, Shine Resunga Debenture (SHINED) and Bandipur Cablecar and Tourism Limited (BANDIPUR) surged 10 percent each. Mabilung Energy Limited (MABEL) and Sagar Distillery Limited (SAGAR) gained 9.99 percent apiece, while Bungal Hydro Limited (BUNGAL) rose 9.98 percent.

On the losing side, the 10.25% Nepal SBI Bank Debenture 2083 (SBID83) posted the steepest fall of 9.39 percent.

Overall market capitalisation increased to Rs 4,305.76 billion from Rs 4,291.26 billion the previous day.
