NEPSE Ends Lower for Third Straight Day

Hotel and Tourism sector bucks the trend, while the Finance sector leads the decline

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index extended its losing streak for a third straight day on Monday, November 10, slipping 0.16 percent, or 4.15 points, to close at 2,561.94.

The benchmark index had dropped 1.15 percent on Sunday and 0.43 percent last Thursday. NEPSE has been on a downward trajectory since last Monday, recording gains only once during the week — a 0.46 percent rise on Wednesday.

After climbing 1.18 percent last Sunday, the index declined by 0.31 percent on Monday and 1.05 percent on Tuesday, before staging a modest rebound midweek.

Market turnover also declined along with the index. Total trading volume fell to Rs 4.51 billion from Rs 4.90 billion the previous day.

All key indices closed lower. The Float Index slipped 0.22 percent, while both the Sensitive and Sensitive Float indices dropped 0.23 percent each.

A total of 8.64 million shares were traded through 40,591 transactions, down from 10.61 million shares and 47,268 transactions the previous day.

Out of the traded securities, 151 declined, 91 advanced, and 11 remained unchanged.

Of the 13 sectoral indices, only four ended in positive territory. The Hotel and Tourism sub-index led the gainers, rising 1.64 percent, while the Finance sector posted the sharpest loss of 0.75 percent.

Among individual stocks, Daramkhola Hydro Energy Limited (DHEL), Sagar Distillery Limited (SAGAR), and Bungal Hydro Limited (BUNGAL) each gained 9.99 percent. Unnati Sahakarya Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (USLB) was the biggest loser, plunging 10 percent.

Overall market capitalisation slipped to Rs 4,291.26 billion from Rs 4,298.22 billion the previous day.
