Applications Open for “Nepal in Australia” Programme

The programme aims to identify and support high-potential Nepali enterprises to strengthen their export readiness and competitiveness in the Australian market

Nepal Economic Forum (NEF) has opened the Call for Applications for the “Nepal in Australia” programme, commissioned by the Australian Embassy in Nepal and implemented by NEF.

The programme aims to identify and support high-potential Nepali enterprises to strengthen their export readiness and competitiveness in the Australian market, NEF said in a statement on Wednesday, November 5. It will provide tailored support to businesses based on their export preparedness, business maturity, and alignment with market demand in Australia.

Eligible Nepali businesses seeking to expand into the Australian market can apply by November 15, 2025.

“Ensuring an inclusive and transparent selection process, the programme seeks participation from diverse sectors, geographies, and demographics, with a special emphasis on women-led and underrepresented businesses,” the statement said.

Sujeev Shakya, Chair of NEF, described the initiative as “a crucial step in enabling Nepali enterprises to compete globally by equipping them with the right knowledge, connections, and capabilities.” He added that the partnership with the Australian Embassy reflects “a shared commitment to promoting sustainable trade and private sector growth.”

Australian Ambassador to Nepal Leann Johnston said, “Supporting Nepali businesses to export their unique products is essential for diversifying Nepal’s economy and fostering broader economic growth. We are proud to partner with NEF on this initiative and look forward to seeing even more Nepali products available in Australia.”

Selected enterprises will participate in a structured capacity development programme aimed at enhancing their export potential and preparedness for trade with Australia.
