Rainfall since early Thursday morning, October 30, has affected daily life across several parts of Nepal.
Meteorologists expect the current weather pattern – influenced by westerly winds, a low-pressure system over the Arabian Sea, and the partial influence of Cyclone Montha, which formed over the Bay of Bengal – to bring heavy rainfall in many areas from Thursday afternoon.
The cyclone made landfall in India’s Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday night and has since weakened while moving north and northwest. It is now approaching Nepal’s central region and is expected to shift eastward by Thursday night, bringing intensified rainfall across Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces through Saturday.
The photos below show students hurrying to school under umbrellas, and tourists and locals navigating the rain-soaked streets around Basantapur, Kathmandu on Thursday morning.
