The District Administration Office (DAO), Mustang, has urged trekkers to avoid high-altitude trails following a weather forecast that predicts heavy snowfall in several mountain areas of the district.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, weather conditions in the high mountains are likely to remain unfavorable until Wednesday. The Department has forecast light to heavy snowfall in Yakkharka (5,800 metres) of Mustang and Dolpa districts, Thorang-La and Saribung passes in Manang and Mustang, and Dhampus area as well as the Dhaulagiri trekking route in Mustang and Myagdi districts.
Issuing a notice on Monday, Chief District Officer Bishnu Prasad Bhusal urged trekkers to refrain from trekking along these high mountain routes until the weather improves.
The DAO has also advised tourists and pilgrims visiting Mustang to check weather updates regularly and take necessary precautions while travelling in the region. -- RSS
