NEPSE Rebounds Above 2,500 Ahead of Tihar Holidays

The NEPSE index rose 0.67 percent on the final trading day before Tihar holidays, with most sectors ending in the green

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index climbed 0.67 percent on Sunday, October 19, closing above the 2,500 mark on the final trading day before the Tihar holidays.

The benchmark index, which had declined for three consecutive days, rebounded to close at 2,503.85 points, after hitting an intraday high of 2,507.12 and a low of 2,482.94.

Out of the traded companies, 163 advanced, 78 declined, and 8 remained unchanged. All major sub-indices finished higher, with the Sensitive Index rising 0.53 percent, the Float Index 0.57 percent, and the Sensitive Float Index 0.49 percent.

Aatmanirbhar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (ANLB) hit the positive circuit, gaining 10 percent, while Himalayan Power Partner Ltd. (HPPL) and Bhagawati Hydropower Development Company Limited (BGWT) rose 9.89 percent and 9.88 percent, respectively. At the other end, the Himalayan 80–20 (H8020) mutual fund dropped 6.10 percent, closing at Rs 10 per unit.

Total turnover stood at Rs 2.79 billion, lower than Rs 3.27 billion recorded last Thursday. Over 6.19 million shares were traded across 260 companies.

Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited (NRIC) topped the turnover chart with Rs 281.09 million, its share price rising 2.48 percent (Rs 31) to close at Rs 1,281.

Among the sub-indices, non-life insurance (-0.34%), development banks (-0.21%), and mutual funds (-0.13%) ended in the red, while all other sectors advanced.

The Others group led with a 1.16 percent gain, followed by banking (+0.87%), finance (+0.51%), hotels and tourism (+0.72%), hydropower (+0.70%), investment (+0.75%), life insurance (+0.33%), manufacturing and processing (+0.90%), microfinance (+0.47%), and trading (+0.90%).

With the day’s rise, investors’ total wealth increased by Rs 27.87 billion, pushing the market capitalisation from Rs 4,157.89 billion last Thursday Thursday to Rs 4,185.77 billion.
