Market Rebounds 1.76% After Sharp Decline

NEPSE climbs 44.25 points to 2,547.60; all sectors in green though turnover slips below Rs 5 billion

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index surged 1.76% or 44.25 points Monday, October 13, to close at 2,547.60. This followed a 3.05% decline Sunday after a 0.88% gain last Thursday that ended a two-day losing streak.

However , daily turnover dropped to Rs 4.97 billion from Rs 6.70 billion the previous day. Over 9.90 million shares were traded across 48,836 transactions, compared to 14.36 million shares traded through 67,202 transactions the previous day.

All major indices closed in the green. The Sensitive Index rose 1.17%, the Float Index climbed 1.54%, and the Sensitive Float Index increased 1.32%.

Of the traded companies, 200 advanced, 44 declined, and 8 remained unchanged.

Top gainers of the day included Nepal Micro Insurance Company Limited (NMIC), Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited (NRIC), and Crest Micro Life Insurance Limited (CREST), all hitting the upper circuit limit. 

At the other extreme was the Corporate Development Bank Limited (CORBL) declined 5.26%.

The NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited (NRN) led the turnover chart with Rs 319.10 million, followed by Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited (NRIC) with Rs 264.77 million, and 10% KBL Debenture 2090 (KBLD90) with Rs 244.52 million.

All 13 sectoral indices ended higher. The Others Index posted the highest gain, 5.01%, followed by the Hotels and Tourism Index, 3.35%, while the Banking Sub-Index recorded the smallest rise, 0.28%.

Total market capitalization increased to Rs 4,258.92 billion from Rs 4,184.93 billion Sunday.
