Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has announced a reduction in debit card transaction limits.
Currently, debit card users can withdraw up to Rs 25,000 per transaction at ATMs, with a daily limit of Rs 100,000 and a monthly limit of Rs 400,000.
Under the new directive issued on Friday, October 10, these limits have been revised to Rs 20,000 per transaction, Rs 50,000 per day, and Rs 300,000 per month.
According to the central bank, the transaction limits for prepaid cards issued by banks and financial institutions remain unchanged at Rs 10,000 per transaction, Rs 20,000 per day, and Rs 200,000 per month. Similarly, credit card limits will not be affected.
For prepaid cards issued by service providers other than banks and financial institutions, the existing limits of Rs 5,000 per day and Rs 25,000 per month will continue to apply.
