Recent floods and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall in various parts of the country have blocked nine major highways across three provinces.
According to the Nepal Police Headquarters, the affected highways are located in Koshi, Bagmati, and Karnali provinces.
In Koshi Province, traffic movement has been disrupted along the Koshi Highway at Barun Khola in Ward No. 4 of Bhotkhola Rural Municipality and at Aekuwa in Ward No. 3 of Makalu Rural Municipality, both in Sankhuwasabha district.
Similarly, in Ilam district, the Mechi Highway at Rajduwali in Ward No. 9 of Ilam Municipality has been blocked, while in Panchthar, the Tamor Corridor at Nawakhola in Ward No. 2 of Tumbewa Rural Municipality has also been obstructed, police spokesperson Deputy Inspector General Binod Ghimire said.
In Bagmati Province, landslides have blocked the Pasang Lhamu Highway at Ward No. 2 of Gosainkunda Rural Municipality in Rasuwa, the BP Highway at Mamtikhola in Ward No. 11 of Roshi Rural Municipality in Kavrepalanchok, and the BP Highway at Nepalthok in Ward No. 1 of Sunkoshi Rural Municipality in Sindhuli.
Likewise, in Karnali Province, the Karnali Corridor has been completely obstructed at Kurilla in Ward No. 5 of Kharpunath Rural Municipality in Humla and at Jugenikhola in Ward No. 8 of Pachaljharana Rural Municipality in Kalikot.
Meanwhile, the Koshi Lokmarg at Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality-1 in Dhankuta, and the Kanti Lokpath at Baguwakhola in Bhimphedi Rural Municipality-8 and Ghatthepakh in Bakaiya Rural Municipality-11 of Makawanpur are operating on a one-way basis, police said.
Authorities said efforts are underway to clear the debris and reopen the obstructed highways to restore vehicular movement. -- RSS
