The Department of Roads (DoR) has reported that most major highways remain open despite light to moderate rainfall in several parts of the country. However, movement along some routes has been restricted as a precaution against possible landslides and flooding.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall, particularly in central and eastern Nepal, from October 4 to 6. Authorities warn of a high risk of landslides, floods, and flash floods during this period.
To reduce the risk of accidents and ensure safety, movement of long-distance passenger and cargo vehicles through high-risk zones has been restricted from October 4 to 6. Local administrations and security agencies have been instructed to strictly regulate inter-district travel in vulnerable areas.
The restrictions will remain in force until weather conditions improve and relevant authorities issue clearance for safe travel. Travellers are strongly advised to avoid unnecessary journeys and remain alert to potential disruptions in transport services across Kathmandu Valley and other affected regions.
According to the DoR’s latest update:
Daunne (Butwal–Narayanghat): Light rain reported, but traffic movement remains normal.
Nepalthok and Dhulikhel: Road traffic halted by traffic police as a safety measure.
