The International Calendar Decision Committee of the World Astro Federation (WAF) has announced the auspicious times for offering and receiving Dashain “tika” across various countries.
Committee member-secretary Acharya Lakshman Panthi said a meeting of the committee on Saturday set the timings using astronomical calculations of the lunar calendar (tithi) and other factors, adjusted to local time zones, in response to requests from followers of Vedic Sanatan Hinduism worldwide.
For Nepal, the time for ‘tika’ is set for 11:53 am on October 2. In India, Delhi’s timing is 11:49 am the same day.
For the United States, the auspicious times on October 1 are: New York 11:25 am, Frankfurt, Kentucky 11:57 am, Owensboro, Kentucky 11:05 am, Texas 11:33 am, Washington DC 11:35 am, California 11:11 am, and Colorado 11:29 am.
In Canada, the timing is 11:55 am for Toronto and 11:33 am for Vancouver, both on October 1.
For Europe, the tika time on October 2 is: Geneva 10:25 am, Malta 10:55 am, Lisbon 9:23 am, London 9:17 am, Paris 9:57 am, and Oslo 10:03 am.
Asia-Pacific times on October 2 include: Tokyo 11:31 am, Sydney 11:43 am, Melbourne 11:19 am, Brisbane 11:53 am, Adelaide 11:35 am, Canberra 11:51 am, Tasmania 11:45 am, Perth 11:25 am, Darwin 11:47 am, and Wellington, New Zealand 11:23 am.
Elsewhere, the timings are: Kuala Lumpur 11:11 am, Abu Dhabi 10:55 am, Doha 10:13 am, Saudi Arabia 10:55 am, Tel Aviv 11:35 am, Yangon 10:27 am, Bangkok 10:45 am, Singapore 11:09 am, Hong Kong 11:45 am, and Seoul 10:57 am, according to committee chair Prof. Dr. Madhav Bhattarai. -- RSS
