Three Ministers Sworn In as Interim Cabinet Takes Shape

Three newly appointed ministers in Nepal’s interim government were sworn in on Monday, September 15.

President Ram Chandra Poudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to Rameshore Khanal, former finance secretary, as Minister for Finance; Kulman Ghising, former managing director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, as Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Urban Development, and Energy; and Om Prakash Aryal, an advocate and close ally of Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah, as Minister for Law and Home Affairs.

The ceremony at the President’s Office in Sheetal Niwas was attended by Prime Minister Sushila Karki, Vice President Ram Sahaya Yadav, National Assembly Chair Narayan Dahal, former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut, and other senior officials.

In a separate development, Senior Advocate Savita Bhandari Baral was appointed  Sunday as Nepal’s first female attorney general, following the resignation of Ramesh Badal.
