Ncell has pledged to rebuild its damaged infrastructure and continue serving customers across the country, following a series of violent attacks on its offices last week during the youth-led protests.
In a statement Sunday, September 14, the company confirmed that several of its facilities — including its head office, Ncell ICON in Kathmandu, and regional offices in Mahendranagar, Dhangadhi, and Pokhara — were severely impacted by acts of vandalism. The incidents caused extensive property damage and posed serious threats to employee safety and service continuity.
Despite the disruption, Ncell said it worked to maintain connectivity for customers. The company provided free voice calls, SMS, and internet services for three days to ensure uninterrupted communication during the crisis.
“For the past 20 years, Ncell has prioritised serving the Nepali community, and this response reflects our unwavering dedication to supporting customers in times of need,” the statement read.
Looking ahead, Ncell expressed optimism as the country entered what it described as a new chapter under an interim government. It congratulated Prime Minister Sushila Karki on her appointment, noting that the change in leadership was brought about by a youth-led movement.
“We welcome this moment of transformation… and share in the collective hope that this will lead to a future of greater unity, peace, and prosperity for all Nepalis,” Ncell said.
The company also highlighted its long-standing role in Nepal’s ICT sector, saying it has contributed to job creation, economic growth, and the broader vision of building a Digital Nepal.
“We further reaffirm our commitment to serve Nepal with renewed determination and resilience. We stand shoulder to shoulder with our employees, customers, and communities,” the statement said, adding thanks for the support and solidarity it has received in the aftermath of the attacks.
Concluding its message, Ncell offered condolences to those who lost their lives during last week’s unrest and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
