Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has directed all licensed banks, development banks, finance companies, and payment-related institutions to ensure the uninterrupted operation of their critical banking and payment systems during the ongoing security lockdowns.
In a notice issued Thursday, September 11, the central bank instructed these institutions to prioritise business continuity in line with the movement-related statement issued by the Nepal Army on Wednesday.
The NRB has asked institutions to operate their critical systems with a limited number of essential staff and to continue providing key banking and digital payment services while minimising operational risks. It has also advised them to enable remote access systems wherever possible.
Additionally, banks and financial institutions have been told to regularly update the public on the operational status of their branches, ATMs, and other services through their official websites and social media channels.
