Law enforcement authorities have decided to continue curfew and prohibitory orders in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur districts on Thursday to maintain peace, though the hours have been reduced compared to earlier restrictions.

According to a statement issued by the Nepali Army on Wednesday evening, prohibitory orders will continue on Thursday from 10 am to 5 pm, while a night curfew will remain in force from 7 pm Thursday until 6 am Friday.

The statement said the restrictions have been gradually relaxed following an assessment of the security situation, but were still necessary to safeguard lives and property amid widespread vandalism across Nepal after the Gen Z protests that began earlier this week.

Movement will be allowed for essential purposes between 6 am and 10 am, and again from 5 pm to 7 pm on Thursday. Vehicles used for essential services—including ambulances, hearses, fire trucks, health workers, security personnel, media, and the transportation of food, fuel, milk, vegetables, water, and medicines—will be permitted to operate during curfew hours.

Staff of government offices, banks, financial institutions, and public enterprises will be allowed to travel to work upon presenting their identity cards. Domestic and international airline passengers may also reach the airport by showing their flight tickets.

Authorities have requested the public to cooperate with security forces and seek assistance from nearby personnel if needed. The statement further noted that outside the Kathmandu Valley, district security committees will make decisions based on local conditions.
