Tribhuvan International Airport has been closed indefinitely amid security lockdowns, the TIA Office said in a notice issued at 11:30 AM Wednesday.
The airport was first shut down Tuesday afternoon after thick smoke from fires set by protesters engulfed the skies, forcing authorities to suspend flights for 24 hours.
Earlier on Wednesday, the state-owned RSS news agency reported that the closure had been extended until 6 PM. However, officials later confirmed that the airport will remain closed until further notice.
