Ncell has appealed to protesters not to damage telecommunications infrastructure, following the recent wave of protests and violent incidents across Nepal.

The private telecom operator warned that any harm to its facilities could disrupt essential communication services nationwide.

In a statement issued Tuesday, September 9, the company said its central office was attacked and vandalised by protesters earlier in the day. “As telecommunications services are essential public infrastructure, any damage inevitably disrupts communication and creates difficulties for consumers,” the statement read. “We request everybody not to cause harm to such critical services and to support uninterrupted communication.”

Ncell announced that it would provide free local voice calls, internet, and SMS services for all customers across Nepal for the two days, effective Tuesday.
