The government has extended the deadline for upgrading the Muglin-Pokhara road (eastern sector) for the fourth time.
The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport extended the deadline for the 41.5-kilometer section from Jamune to Ambukhaireni in Tanahu until October 11, 2025 upon request from the project. The previous deadline ended on July 13, 2025.
The project applied for the deadline extension arguing that are still some other works remaining aside from the blacktopping.
Engineer Bishnu Prasad Pandey of the Muglin-Pokhara Road Project (Eastern Section) said all blacktopping and most of the road painting works have been completed, but some minor works are pending.
“We completed the blacktopping, including the six-lane road in Damauli and four lanes elsewhere. Since only a few works remain, we requested a time extension,” Pandey said.
The project began on April 15, 2021, following an agreement on January 30, 2021, and has so far taken over three years to finish the major works. China Communication Construction Company holds the contract for this section, which is being upgraded into four lanes with loan assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The eastern sector’s contract value stands at Rs 6.21 billion. -- RSS
