The main attraction of the 17th edition of the NADA Auto Show 2025, which began on Tuesday, was the flying car, followed by the Unitree Robot. On the first day of the show, during the inaugural session, most visitors were seen crowding around these two innovations, with the flying car drawing the most attention. The car has been developed by the Chinese company Changan Automobile in collaboration with Urban Air Mobility company EHang Holdings. Importer MAW Vriddhi showcased it at the Auto Show under the name Deepal eVTOL Flying Car.
According to Chinese media, the test flight of this vehicle is planned by the end of 2025. Headquartered in Guangzhou, China, EHang Holdings is recognized as a global leader in the urban air mobility sector. The collaboration between the two companies was announced in December 2024.
The unveiling of the flying car at the 17th edition of the NADA Auto Show marks the first time such a vehicle has been showcased in Nepal. The event, organized by the NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal, began on Tuesday at Bhrikutimandap. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli inaugurated the flying car at the ceremony.
When the Prime Minister unveiled the flying car, a large crowd gathered to witness the moment. Meanwhile, the robot welcomed the Prime Minister as soon as he entered the inaugural session. The remotely controlled robot even guided the Prime Minister from the gate to the stage prepared for the opening ceremony. Later, the robot also entertained the audience with a graceful dance performance.
Prime Minister Oli remarked that the flying car and the robot showcased at the Auto Show would encourage those engaged in innovation. “Along with global scientific research and study, Nepal too must create an environment where we can benefit from new developments, inventions, and progress,” he said.
Despite northern trade routes with China being blocked due to natural disasters, NADA managed to bring advanced vehicles from China for the exhibition. Earlier this week, a photo of porters carrying the flying car through the Tatopani border crossing went viral on the internet. At the event, Prime Minister Oli said that the government is always ready to create an environment for introducing and investing in new technologies in the country.
