NEPSE Down 0.06%, Turnover Falls to Rs 7.63 Billion

Following a 1.43% drop on Tuesday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index edged further down 0.06%, or 1.94 points, on Wednesday, August 6, closing at 2,832.06. Tuesday’s decline came after Monday’s 0.57% gain, which had ended a three-day losing streak.

Daily turnover also fell to Rs 7.63 billion, down from Rs 9.33 billion in the previous session. A total of 21.65 million shares were traded across 93,185 transactions.

All major sub-indices ended in negative territory. The Sensitive Index slipped 0.18%, the Float Index dipped 0.05%, and the Sensitive Float Index declined 0.16%.

Among individual gainers, Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. (WNLB) hit the upper circuit to close at Rs 2,367.20. Mahuli Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. (MSLB) and Trade Tower Ltd. (TTL) followed, each rising 9.99% to settle at Rs 1,635.80 and Rs 1,052.90, respectively.

On the downside, Three Star Hydropower Ltd. (TSHL) extended its losing streak, ending as the day’s top loser with a 3.78% drop to Rs 847.77.

Of the 13 sectoral indices, only three ended in positive territory. The Microfinance Index led gains with a 1.41% rise, while the Trading Index posted the sharpest decline, down 0.66%.

Ngadi Group Power Ltd. (NGPL) topped the turnover chart with Rs 294.55 million in traded value, followed by Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd. (HRL) at Rs 280.24 million, and Shivam Cements Ltd. (SHIVM) at Rs 241.99 million.

Total market capitalization declined slightly to Rs 4,727.21 billion from Rs 4,730.45 billion on Tuesday.
