NEPSE Surges 1.51%

All 13 sectoral indices ended the day in positive territory, with the Others Index showing the highest gain at 2.09%

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index made a recovery on Wednesday, March 26, surging 1.51% or 39.13 points, to close at 2,621.86, following a 2.19% drop on the previous trading day. 

The index had fallen by 58.05 points on Tuesday, closing at 2,582.73, marking its first drop below 2,600 in nearly two and a half months. The last time the index closed below 2,600 was on January 16, 2025, at 2,588.62.

Despite the positive movement of the index on Wednesday, trading activity showed a decline. The total turnover exceeded Rs 4.20 billion, down from over Rs 5.18 billion on the previous day. Over 9 million shares were traded in 48,785 transactions.

All major indices ended in the green. The Sensitive Index surged by 1.31%, the Float Index gained by 1.54%, and the Sensitive Float Index increased by 1.39%.

Among individual stocks, Mountain Hydro Nepal Limited (MHNL) led the gainers with a 5.85% rise in its share price. Meanwhile, Upakar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (ULBSL) posted the largest decline, dropping by 7.09%.

In terms of turnover, Himalayan Reinsurance Limited (HRL) topped the list, followed by Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited (NRIC) and Guardian Micro Life Insurance Limited (GMLI).
