Implement Public Procurement Act Literally: FCAN

August 22: Federation of Contractors' Associations of Nepal (FCAN) has protested for not literally implementing Public Procurement Act. Objecting to the non-implementation of the provisions of the ammended Act, the umbrella organisation of  contractors has demanded the government to implement the (First Amendment 2073) of Public Procurement Act, 2063. The section 9(5) of the Act has freed procurements of constructions work having investment up to Rs 20 million from any requirements.

According to Ram Sharan Deuja, General Secretary of FCAN, currently various public bodies of Nepal are issuing tenders mentioning various qualifications. He said, "As a result, FCAN compelled to protest for the rights and welfare of more than 11,000 small contractors."
