Inland Revenue Office, Makwanpur met 85 percent of its revenue collection target in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, 2024/25.
Yukt Prasad Subedi, the head of the office, told RSS, the state-owned news agency, that the office collected over Rs 1.57 billion in revenue in the period, against the target of over Rs 1.86 billion.
The collection in the same period last fiscal year stood at Rs 1.41 billion.
Chief Subedi attributed the improvement to the easing of credit flow from banks and financial institutions, improvement in tax policy and regular market monitoring.
Of the total, around Rs 1 billion was collected from excise duty, Rs 204 million from income tax, Rs 188.5 million from value added tax and nearly Rs 160 million from health risk tax.
