NEPSE Closes in Red Four Time this Week

The daily turnover amounted to around Rs 5.27 billion on Thursday, October 24, compared to Rs 6.28 billion the previous day

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index dropped 23.36 points on Thursday, October 24, to close at 2,622.03. 

This marks the 4th time the index has closed in red in the five trading days this week. On Tuesday, it had gained 25.88 points.

Along with the index, daily turnover also declined. It amounted to around Rs 5.27 billion on Thursday compared to Rs 6.28 billion the previous day. The highest turnover recorded this week was Rs 8.18 billion on Sunday.

More than 12 million shares were traded on the last trading day of the week through 60,586 transactions.

The Sensitive, Float, and Sensitive Float indices closed in the red, declining by 0.91 percent, 0.98 percent, and 0.99 percent, respectively.

Nepal SBI Bank Limited (SBI) was the top performer of the day, with its share price rising by 9.75 percent, followed by Peoples Hydropower Company Limited (PHCL), which posted a 7.88 percent gain.

On the other hand, Rawa Energy Development Limited (RAWA) was the biggest loser, with its share price hitting the lower circuit limit.

In the turnover front, NLG Insurance Company Ltd. (NLG) led the market, followed by Sahas Urja Limited (SAHAS). 

Of the 13 sub-indices, only the HydroPower Index rose in the day, while the Trading Index experienced the largest decline, falling 1.93 percent.
