Govt to Implement Co-operative Probe Committee Report

The government has decided to implement the report of the Parliamentary Special Inquiry Committee on Misuse of Savings of Cooperative Institutions, 2081.

According to Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithivi Subba Gurung, the Council of Ministers during Wednesday's Cabinet meeting approved the enforcement of the report, which was endorsed by the federal parliament.

"The government has decided to forward the report to the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation; the Ministry of Finance; and the Ministry of Home Affairs for implementation," Gurung stated.

The parliamentary committee formed under the chairmanship of MP Surya Bahadur Thapa on May 28 had submitted the report to the House of Representatives on September 16. Subsequently, Speaker Devraj Ghimire directed the Parliament Secretariat to forward it to the government for necessary action.

In addition, the Cabinet meeting decided to implement the common minimum programme and policy commitments of the incumbent government. -- RSS
