Pilgrims traveling to and from Kailash Manasarovar in Tibet from Rasuwa district have been stranded after rainfall damaged the road towards the China side.

Chief District Officer of Rasuwa, Bed Nidhi Khanal, reported that a flood in the Kerung rivulet, located five kilometers north of the Friendship Bridge at Rasuwagadhi, damaged the highway, halting vehicular movement.

Around 100 pilgrims heading to Kailash Manasarovar are stranded at Rasuwagadhi, while approximately 500 pilgrims returning to Nepal after their pilgrimage are stranded at Kerung.

Nepal Police and the Rasuwa-based No. 20 Company of the Armed Police Force (APF) are coordinating efforts to support the stranded pilgrims, according to CDO Khanal.

Government authorities have requested the local administration in Kerung to take initiative to restore vehicular movement and assist the pilgrims traveling to and from Kailash Manasarovar. -- RSS
