A domestic buffalo raised by a farmer in Manahari, Makawanpur, has killed a tiger in a first-of-its-kind incident reported in the buffer zone of Chitwan National Park (CNP).

The buffalo, owned by Bal Bahadur Rai of Manahari Rural Municipality-6, Pratappur, killed the tiger, which had wandered out of the national park.

CNP Information Officer Ganesh Prasad Tiwari reported that the tiger died after the buffalo retaliated on Thursday morning. The buffalo was injured in the tiger attack.

"The deceased tiger appears old and thin. The big cat likely ventured out in search of food after struggling to hunt within the park," Tiwari said. He added that the tiger's body has been brought to the national park for a post-mortem examination. -- RSS
