Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has reduced the prices of petroleum products effective from Friday, May 1.
According to the state-run oil monopoly, the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs 2 per litre while that of diesel and kerosene has been slashed by Re 1 per litre.
Similarly, the price of aviation fuel for domestic flights has also been reduced by Re 1 per litre, reads a press statement issued by the NOC.
With the revised rates, the price of petrol has been set at Rs 155.50 per litre for the first category, Rs 157 for the second category, and Rs 158 for the third category. Similarly, the price of diesel and kerosene has been fixed at Rs 142.50 per litre for the first category, Rs 144 for the second category, and Rs 145 for the third category.
NOC has placed Charali, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Amlekhgunj, Bhalbari, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, and Birgunj in the first category. Surkhet and Dang fall under the second category, while Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Dipayal are included in the third category. Prior to this, the NOC had lowered the prices of petroleum products on April 16.
The NOC usually revises fuel prices every fortnight based on the pricing list received from the Indian Oil Corporation, the sole supplier of petroleum products to Nepal. – With inputs from RSS
