The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) closed nearly flat on Tuesday, June 24, slipping 0.22 points to 2,600.53. The minor loss followed Monday’s 0.18% rebound, which came after four straight days of decline.
Turnover fell to just over Rs 5.76 billion from Monday’s Rs 6.47 billion. A total of 13.81 million shares changed hands across 62,755 transactions. This was lower than Monday’s 17.5 million shares and 70,831 transactions.
Despite the subdued trading, key indices posted slight gains. The Sensitive Index rose 0.02%, the Float Index added 0.05%, and the Sensitive Float Index edged up 0.12%.
Of the 249 listed stocks traded, 107 advanced while 142 declined.
Om Megashree Pharmaceuticals Ltd (OMPL) led the gainers, surging 8.01%. Himalayan Power Partner Ltd (HPPL) followed, jumping 7.87%. The biggest loser was NIC Asia Debenture 2085/86 (NICAD85/86), which plunged 5.17%.
Butwal Power Company Ltd (BPCL) topped the turnover chart with Rs 276.59 million in trades. Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd (RADHI) followed with over Rs 239.62 million, and HPPL came third at Rs 238.59 million. RADHI had led Monday’s turnover with more than Rs 521.85 million.
Among sector indices, five of 13 ended in the red. The Banking Index gained the most, rising 0.44%. The Manufacturing and Processing Index was up 0.42%, while Investment and Mutual Fund indices rose 0.27% each. Microfinance edged up 0.19%.
The Hotels and Tourism Index dropped 0.98%, leading the losses.
NEPSE’s total market capitalisation slipped to Rs 4,332.86 billion, slightly down from Rs 4,333.24 billion the previous day.
