Nepal has been ranked the seventh-best solo adventure travel destination for 2025 by UK-based adventure travel company Much Better Adventures. The country was included in a curated list of 25 global destinations recognized for their appeal to solo travelers seeking adventure and cultural depth, according to the Nepal Tourism Board.
The ranking highlights Nepal’s unique blend of dramatic landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and affordability. Key attractions such as the Everest Base Camp trek, Annapurna Circuit, and jungle safaris in Chitwan National Park were noted as major draws for travelers in search of spiritual renewal and thrilling experiences. Much Better Adventures praised Nepal for offering cost-effective accommodations, accessible adventure packages, and a wide array of natural and cultural encounters.
Nepal’s growing appeal to solo adventurers has been supported by strategic efforts from the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). The board has actively promoted responsible tourism, emphasizing community-based travel, the use of local guides, and sustainable practices that prioritize safety and cultural sensitivity. According to NTB, these initiatives have positioned Nepal as a more secure and rewarding destination for solo visitors.
Much Better Adventures compiled its rankings based on expert recommendations and customer feedback, taking into account factors such as safety, sustainability, accessibility, and overall popularity. The company's co-founder, Sam Bruce, noted that Nepal offers solo travelers breathtaking nature, profound spirituality, and heartfelt hospitality, from the bustling alleys of Kathmandu to the serene Himalayan trails.
Kristy Holmes, Content Manager at Much Better Adventures, recently undertook a solo journey to Nepal and shared her positive experience, stating that walking through the Annapurna Conservation Area and exploring Chitwan felt like being welcomed home.
Italy topped the list, followed by Japan, Norway, Spain, Albania, and Portugal. Nepal was ranked seventh, ahead of Montenegro, Jordan, and Greece.
Deepak Raj Joshi, CEO of the Nepal Tourism Board, welcomed the recognition, describing it as an opportunity to further enhance destination marketing and implement targeted improvements. He emphasized the board’s commitment to leveraging such international accolades to strengthen Nepal’s global tourism profile.
