Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Biswo Prakash Sharma is set to climb Sagarmatha (Mount Everest), the world’s highest peak.
According to Himal Gautam, Director at the Department of Tourism, Sharma has obtained a mountaineering permit for the ongoing spring expedition season.
So far, 50 climbers have successfully reached the summit this season, according to the expedition company facilitating the climb. Many more are expected to attempt the ascent this season.
As per the Department of Tourism, 458 climbers from 45 groups have received permits to climb Mount Everest this spring. In total, 1,140 climbers from 124 groups have been granted permission to scale 27 peaks across Nepal, including Sagarmatha. -- RSS
