Minister for Water Supply Pradeep Yadav has blamed the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) for failing to coordinate with the ministry and other relevant agencies, resulting in a drinking water pipe burst in Babarmahal on Wednesday.
Minister Yadav inspected the area after the supply pipe of the bulk drinking water distribution system burst while the NEA was digging to lay underground electric wires.
Speaking briefly to the media, Yadav stated that while the NEA usually coordinates with the ministry, it failed to do so this time, leading to the incident.
"We will repair the damaged pipelines soon and restore the water supply," he assured.
Meanwhile, Tika Bahadur Chaudhury, chief of the Kathmandu Valley Drinking Water Project Implementation Directorate, said that repairs would be carried out once the water flow stops.
The pipe burst caused flooding in government buildings, including the Special Court in Babarmahal, and led to traffic congestion in the area. -- RSS
