China has begun installing a bailey bridge as part of the first phase to restore operations at the Rasuwagadhi border checkpoint.
The new bridge is being set up approximately two metres east of the site of the previous motorable bridge, which was swept away by the flooded Lhende River —an upper tributary of the Bhotekoshi—in Rasuwa on July 8, reported the state-owned news agency RSS, quoting Rasuwa Chief District Officer Arjun Poudel.

Poudel said that with the help of four excavators, work to lower the river to its original level is already underway. He added that his Chinese counterpart informed him the installation would be completed by mid-September, 2025.
