Gionee Elife S5.1: Amazingly Thin, Gracefully Powerful

Crowned by the Guinness World Records as the 'World's Thinnest Smartphone,' Gionee Elife S5.1 is all set to hit the Nepali market. With thickness of just 5.1 mm, the handset is amazingly ultrathin. The latest handset by the Chinese smartphone major Gionee, is 0.45 mm thin compared to its predecessor, the Elife S5.5 which is 5.55 mm thick. Weighing just around 97.7 grams the super sleek Elife S5.1 is powered by a 1.7 GHz Octa-core Cortex-A7 processor that uses the MediaTek MT6592 chipset. The smartphone has Mali-450MP4 graphics processor which can handle almost all resource hungry graphics applications such as video games very easily. Gionee, however, has lowered the amount of RAM to 1GB in this mid-range device compared to the S5.5 that comes with a plentiful 2GB system memory. Nevertheless, given the superior prowess of S5.1's CPU and GPU, users are less likely to face any significant system lag. The phone's quality hardware offers high-end multitasking experience to the users. 
 
Elife S5.1 sports a 4.8 inch Amoled capacitive multitouch touchscreen with resolution of 720 X 1280 pixels with 306 ppi pixel density for immersive viewing experience. The screen specs are higher compared to other mid-range phones giving colourful, crisp and vibrant HD display. Even in bright sunlight conditions, users won't find difficulties to operate their handsets. Akin to the Elife S5.5, the S5.1 comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on both front and back panels that offer a top level protection to the handset. The Elife S5.1 has exceptional build quality with its superior design. The latest Gionee smartphone is simplified with squarer design with attractively curved edges for comfortable grip. Elife S5.1 comes with a polycarbonate body along with an aluminum frame that adds beauty as well as sturdiness to the overall build design of the phone.
 
 The micro-SIM smartphone features a high-end camera system. Elife S5.1 houses an 8 MP autofocus LED flash primary camera capable of recording 1080p videos at 30fps. Users can take photos at a maximum resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels. The primary snapper is able to to take photos and videos of decent quality even under low-light environments. The camera hosts features such as face detection, geo-tagging, touch focus, HDR and panorama. Selfie lovers, meanwhile, can enjoy the 5 MP secondary shooter which sits on the top of the front panel. The camera comes with 88-degree wide angle lens capable of capturing wider frames.
 
The Elife S5.1 runs on Amigo OS 2.0, Gionee's proprietary Android KitKat based operating system. To name a few, the phone's atypical looking UI has features such as black screen gesture, double tap wake up, pocket mode and wet hands mode. The UI has customised icons, lock screen, notifications and settings that offer a unique Android experience. The Amigo is also loaded with different kinds of useful Google applications ranging from popular video games to lifestyle apps.  
 
Elife S5.1 boasts blazing fast internet connectivity. The handset comes with latest WLAN connectivity such as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Wi-Fi hotspot.  For faster transfer of data, Elife S5.1 is equipped with Bluetooth 4.0. The phone also features micro USB 2.0 and USB OTG. Elife S5.1 has on-par sound quality as it comes with DTS surround sound support for an enhanced audio experience. 
 
The smartphone has 16 GB onboard storage without a micro-SD expansion support. The handset’s non-removable 2,050 mAh battery also looks impressive as the company claims it can lasts for about 10 hrs of talk time and up to 5 days of standby time. TeleTalk Nepal is planning to officially launch the phone in the Nepali market in few days time. The authorized distributor of Gionee smartphones in Nepal informed that the price of Elife S5.1 would be around Rs 30,000.
