Investigation of a Cooperative Led to the Arrest of a Banker:NRB Governor

March 4: NRB Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari has revealed that a banker was arrested when the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police was investigating a case related to a cooperative.

He added that the central bank has also coordinated with the police in this matter.

"The police will investigate if banking crimes were committed," he said, adding, "The police investigated a cooperative. While investigating the case, it led to the arrest of the bank employees.”

Although it seems like the police arrested the banker all of a sudden, the NRB Governor said that they had been investigating this matter for a long time.

As the investigation reached its final stage, the police arrested the banker.

According to the Governor Adhikari, the central bank will assist in the investigation conducted by the government agencies, but there is no need to panic.

He said that various groups with vested interest have been attacking bank employees of late and warned that this will cause problems to the entire banking system

If such activities are not stopped, the demand and flow of loans will not be as expected, the NRB Governor warned.
