Remittance Inflow Surges by 21.2% in 2022/2023

August 18: In the fiscal year 2022/2023, the remittance inflow has increased by 21.2 percent.

According to the financial report released by the Nepal Rastra Bank on Friday, the remittance reached to Rs 1220.56 billion in the fiscal year 2022/2023.In the previous year, the remittance inflow had increased by 4.8 percent.

In terms of US dollars, the remittance flow has increased by 12.1 percent, reaching $9.33 billion. In the previous year, this flow had increased by 2.2 percent.

In the past year, the number of Nepali individuals obtaining final labour permits (institutional and personal-new) for foreign employment grew by 40.3 percent, reaching 497,704. Such number had increased by 392.0 percent the year before.

Likewise, the number of Nepali individuals having their labour permits renewed for foreign employment decreased by 1.8 percent, reaching 277,272 during the review period.  Such  number had increased by 198.5 percent in the previous year.
