Army Completes Cleaning of Baruntse

May 22: The Nepalese Army has completed cleaning up of Mt Baruntse under its Clean Mountain Campaign, 2023.    
A team of eight Nepalese Army personnel and Sherpa guides under the leadership of Major Samir Bahadur Basnet collected over 3,050 kg of bio-degradable garbage from the base camp of Baruntse. The waste was handed over to the Mahakulung Rural Municipality.    

Likewise, 15,470 kilograms of non-degradable waste collected by the team was brought to Kathmandu and handed over to a waste management company.    
The Nepalese Army's Directorate of Public Relations and Information has said that the cleaning of Mount Everest and Lhotse is still underway. The campaign will end on the World Environment Day on coming June 5. -- RSS
