Maoists Center’ Aryal Elected National Assembly Vice-chair

 February 6: Lawmaker of the CPN (Maoist Centre) Urmila Aryal has been unanimously elected the Vice Chairperson of the National Assembly (NA).

Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, Chairperson of the upper house, informed Monday’s NA session about Aryal’s unanimous election to the post of vice-chair since she was the sole candidate to register her candidacy for the post.

The CPN UML lawmaker Debendra Dahal had seconded the proposal to elect Aryal to the post. Dahal had praised her saying that she was capable and qualified candidate for the job.

Speaking at the session of the National Assembly,  lawmaker  Khim Lal Devkota praised her for having played an important role in women's movement in Nepal. He stressed the need for electing women in the leading positions in other state organs. State Committee member of the ruling CPN-Maoists center, Aryal had served as the local development minister.
