DIG-led Committee formed to Probe Nirmala Panta Murder Case   

December 31: Nepal Police has formed a five-member probe committee under the coordination of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Puja Singh to investigate the rape-and-murder of 13-year-old Niramala Panta. The probe committee was formed under the directive of Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.   
Central Spokesperson of Nepal Police, Tek Prasad Rai, shared this information on Friday. DIG Singh is currently working with the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB). She had also been deputed in the previous investigation in the murder.    
The committee also comprises Superintendent of Police (SP) Kamal Thapa, Inspector Dhirendra Rokaya and a doctor as well. They have been mandated to initiate investigation process in a new way.    
On the very day Home Minister Lamichhane assumed office, he had said that he would make utmost efforts to deliver justice in Nirmala's rape-and-murder case.    
Panta was murdered after rape in about four years ago.  -- RSS
