Newly-Formed RSP Wins Four Seats in House of Representatives

November 23: Rastriya Swatantra Party’s candidate for House of Representatives (HoR) from Kathmandu Constituency-2, Sobita Gautam, has emerged victorious in the election with an overwhelming 15,229 votes.

According to Returning Officer Bimala Regmi, the vote counting in the constituency was completed on Wednesday morning.    
Gautam’s nearest rival Mani Ram Phuyal of CPN (UML) garnered 11,555 votes while Rastriya Prajatantra Party’s Kunti Devi Pokharel finished third with 11,014 votes.

Meanwhile, CPN (Maoist Centre)’s Onsari Gharti obtained 9,449 votes.    
Of the total 52,956 votes cast in the constituency, 2,116 votes were invalid.

With Gautam’s victory, the newly-formed RSP has now secured four seats in the House of Representatives.

Dr Toshima Karki of the same party secured a seat in the lower house of parliament from Lalitpur Constituency-3 with a wide-margin victory over her nearest rival Amrit Khadka of CPN UML.

The voting results published by the Election Commission on Wednesday morning shows that Dr Karki secured 14,208 votes against 8,223 of UML leader Khadka. Meanwhile, Maoist Center candidate and Energy Minister Pampha Bhusal finished a distant third with 5,453 votes.

RSP also secured seats in the parliament from constituencies 7 and 8 of Kathmandu. (With inputs from RSS)
