60 Percent Voter Turnout: Preliminary Report of EC

November 20: The voters’ turnout during the general election on Sunday remained around 60 per cent, as per a preliminary report of the Election Commission (EC).
The voting that started from 7 am today and concluded at 5 pm is over and the details of the turnout continues to arrive, the EC said.
Overall, the voting was conducted in a peaceful and enthusiastic manner across the country, except some sporadic incidents, according to the EC. Although the designated voting time is over, the voters who have already entered the polling centres or are within a few yards of the centre can cast their votes even after the deadline.
In Madhesh Province, voting was conducted in all polling centres without any postponement.
Voting process was obstructed in some districts such as Bajura, Surkhet, Taplejung, Nawalparasi (Susta East), Gulmi and Dolakha after disputes between the political parties and the candidates, the EC stated. -- RSS
