260,000 Security Personnel Deployed for Election Security

May 13: Altogether 260,000 security personnel have been deployed for the local election being held across the country in a single phase today.

Among them, 100,000 security personnel are temporary police personnel recruited for the election. Likewise, more than 65,000 security personnel from Nepal Police, 71,000 from the Nepalese Army and 32,000 from Armed Police Force have been deployed for the security of the local election in all 753 local units.

According to the Election Commission, the security arrangement has three layers of protection. Nepal Police personnel have been deployed in the first layer, APF in the second layer and Nepalese Army in the third layer.

Spokesperson of the Nepalese Army Brigadier General Narayan Silwal informed that the army has been mobilized in such a way that they are prepared to reach any polling centre within 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, Spokesperson of Nepal Police SSP Bishnu Kumar KC said that criminal activities is almost zero during this election and therefore there is less challenge this time. He however said that the police is alert to avoid any kind of confrontation between political parties and their cadres.
