232 Industries Registered till mid-April

May 12: As of mid-April this year, 232 industries have been registered so far in the current fiscal year. The number is higher than the registration in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. According to the Department of Industry, 169 domestic and foreign industries were registered during the same period last year.

According to the Department of Industry, so far, 8,687 industries have been registered. During the nine months of the current fiscal year, 67 large, 82 medium and 83 small scale industries were registered. In the corresponding period of the previous year, 33 large, 40 medium and 96 small scale industries were registered. Ram Chandra Tiwari, the director general of the department, said that 1,281 large, 1,991 medium and 5,415 small scale industries have been registered so far.

As per Industrial Business Act, 2076, industries with fixed capital up to Rs 150 million are considered small scale industries, those with fixed capital of Rs 150 million to Rs 500 million are considered medium and industries with fixed capital of more than Rs 500 million are considered as large scale industries.

In the third quarter of the current fiscal year, Rs 266 billion investment was proposed for the 232 industries. The proposed investment last year was Rs 139 billion. The department informed that an investment of Rs 2.5 trillion has been proposed so far. As of mid-April, 23 designs and 2,356 trademarks have been registered, the department informed.
