President's Calls for Ensuring Rights of Labourers

May 1: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has underscored the need for a culture to respect labour and highlighted the importance of labour and skill in country's economic development.    
Issuing a message on the occasion of the International Labour Day (May Day 2022) today, the President made such statement while extending the best wishes for happiness, peace and prosperity to all Nepali working at home and abroad.    
President Bhandari also urged to ensure labour rights including decent work, proper wages and social security to the workers.    
"On this occasion, I would like to extend respect to all workers contributing to the nation's prosperity through their investment of labour and skills in different areas, including the country's industry, agriculture, construction and service sectors," read the president's message.    
President Bhandari reminded the responsibility of all to ensure the rights of the working class people through the implementation of constitutional provisions in order to build a socialism-oriented economy.    
She called upon creating employment opportunities at home to the youth who are forced to leave for foreign jobs President Bhandari also said concerned bodies and stakeholders should make continued efforts to safeguard the human rights of migrant workers. -- RSS
