Energy Minister urges Army Chief Sharma to Increase Electricity Consumption   

April 25: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal held a meeting with the Chief of the Army Staff, General Prabhu Ram Sharma at her office in Singha Durbar on Sunday.    
The meeting between the two focused on the development and consumption of electricity. On the occasion, minister Bhusal urged the Nepalese Army to increase consumption of electricity.

The minister urged the army to replace other kinds of fuel used in the kitchen by electricity. “For this, the ministry is ready to provide required infrastructure," said the minister.    
The minister also urged the army to use electric vehicles instead of petrol/diesel vehicle in the coming days. The minister was of the view that the national army must purchase electric vehicles in the future.

Stating that the army has made vital contribution to the infrastructure development of the country, Minister Bhusal expressed the hope that the army would also contribute  to the  development of hydropower sector in the coming days.    
On the occasion, Army Chief Sharma said that the Nepalese Army has already moved ahead with the plan to electrify the kitchen and assured that the process will be fully implemented in the near future.

“We have started using large steamers to cook food. We will start using electric stoves in all the barracks in coming days,” he said, adding that the army has already started converting petrol/diesel vehicles into electric vehicles.
