China Agrees to Increase Trade Volume with Nepal

March 13: China has agreed to increase the supply of goods to Nepal through the Rasuwagadhi transit point. According to the District Administration Office, Rasuwa, the two sides reached an agreement to increase the supply of Chinese goods during a recent virtual meeting between the border officials of Rasuwa and Jilung Province in Kerung.

Such initiative was taken by the Chief District Officer of Rasuwa Nawaraj Jaisi, who urged his Chinese counterparts to meet the demand of the Nepalese market as Covid-19 cases have declined significantly.

CDO Jaisi reportedly said that the two countries have agreed to allow 14 containers carrying goods into Rasuwagadhi on a daily basis soon. Currently, nine containers of goods are being imported into Nepal every day from this customs point.

The Nepali importers and businessmen are said to be happy with the decision to increase the volume of goods from China, the state-owned national news agency RSS reported.
