Government urges Rescued Citizens to Report if they were Overcharged for Air Tickets

January 28: The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has urged the passengers rescued from various countries amid COVID-19 pandemic to report to the ministry if they were charged more than the set airfare during their evacuation through international chartered flights.

Issuing a statement on Thursday, the ministry asked the victims to report the matter to the investigation committee along with official documents and evidences within a week. The victims can also email the documents to the official email address of the ministry – [email protected].    

The Government of Nepal had facilitated international chartered flights for rescuing Nepali citizens stranded in various countries due to the COVID-19 pandemic.    

The ministry sought details following complaints from the rescued citizens that they were charged more than the airfare fixed for rescuing them and bringing them back to their homeland.

The ministry had earlier formed a committee to probe the matter.
