Govt Closes Schools for 19 Days as Covid Cases Rise Rapidly

Jan 10:
The government has decided to close schools for 19 days amid a rapid rise in Covid-19 cases.
Following a recommendation from the COVID Crisis Management Center (CCMC) on Sunday, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology decided today decided to shut schools across the country for 19 days.

According to a statement of the ministry, all primary and secondary schools across the country will remain close until January 29. Stating that the Covid-19 infection was rising rapidly along with confirmation of Omicron variant, the ministry said that it decided to close schools keeping in view the health safety of students.

The 19-day school closure to be adjusted from annual holiday will begin from January 11 (tomorrow), the ministry said in its statement.
Meanwhile, the ministry has also urged guardians to send their children to receive vaccine by contacting their school as the government plans to inoculate the children between the age of 12 and 17 in all local levels.
