Bagmati Province to get New Chief Minister

October 28: Bagmati Province is all set to get a new chief minister today following the resignation of Asta Laxmi Shakya from the post.

Provincial Chief Yadav Chandra Sharma has set the deadline of October 28 to form a new government in Bagmati Province. As the resignation of Asta Laxmi Shakya has been accepted, the provincial chief has called on Provincial Assembly lawmakers with majority to form a new provincial government. 

Sharma has called on parties to stake a claim for the post of the chief minister as per the Article 169 (1) of the constitution, informed Rajesh Kumar Tamang, legal officer of the Bagmati Provincial Assembly Secretariat.

CPN Unified Socialist leader Rajendra Prasad Pandey has claimed the post of the chief minister with the backing of 59 lawmakers. Pandey has already submitted signatures of the lawmakers. 

The provincial assembly secretariat informed that four political parties representing the Provincial Assembly have submitted signatures with a claim for the post of chief minister.
